Elevate your career as a Senior Estimator / Senior Design Technician!
Our construction industry client in Kettering is expanding and seeking a Senior Estimator / Senior Design Technician to join their growing team.
This full-time, permanent role requires strong technical skills, leadership capabilities, and a high level of attention to detail. You will manage large, multi-utility projects, ensuring quotes and designs meet developer timelines while adhering to company processes. You’ll also provide guidance to junior team members and ensure the quality of their work.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise:
- Create and complete large Multi Utility quotes (Water, Gas, Electricity) in a timely manner based on weekly priorities.
- Conduct network studies using Windebut and Gas Works.
- Review and update quotes, technical drawings, and asset plans of existing utilities and developer specifications.
- Complete re-quotes and variations based on developer requests.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders professionally, including attending client meetings.
- Provide regular updates to the Tendering Manager and Business Development Managers, ensuring all priorities are met.
- Review and provide constructive feedback on colleagues' work.
Leadership & Mentoring:
- Take ownership of large or multi-phase development projects.
- Train and mentor junior estimators and design technicians, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
Project Management & Administration:
- Manage project timelines and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Undertake regular electronic filing to maintain organised project documentation.
- Respond to queries within your competency and escalate complex issues when necessary.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Extensive experience in an estimating role - Required.
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD - Essential.
- Competency in Microsoft Office packages, particularly Word and Excel.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Problem-solving capabilities and effective communication skills.
Experience:
- Previous experience in an estimating and project management role/environment - Desirable.
- Experience managing multi-phase developments or large projects - Essential.
- Experience using AutoCAD and tools like Windebut & Gas Works - Required.
